The India Pakistan Match has always been a high octane event with emotions running high both in India & Pakistan.

The Indian team with the blue jersey looked the spectacular and polar opposite of Pakistan’s green Jersey. Same could be said about the crowd present on the ground. Although the 2 nations who were once part of the same, today look very different and it’s hard to believe that we were one at some point of time in history.

But after the match ( which India won & Pakistan lost ) one thing I noticed that was very similar among the two countries.

The Wife/girlfriend bashing trend.

After the match, People of Pakistan started shaming & blaming Sania Mirza for the disappointing performance of her Husband Shoaib Mallik. She was even blamed for taking her husband & other team members for dinner which in turn affected their performance the next day ( again these are just speculations and could very well be fake news).

Although I was happy about India’s victory I felt sorry for Sania. How can a wife affect an athlete? And please remember Sania herself is a world-class athlete and must be very well knowing the importance of rest & fitness.

The same case happened not long ago with Anushka Sharma who was then-girlfriend of Virat Kohli. It was a time when Virat was not in his best form. So when the Indian team used to lose or Virat Kohli perform poorly, we Indians started trolling & blaming Anushka for Virat’s or for that matter Indian team’s loss.

So now you see the correlation. We are not that different from our neighbor Pakistan. We both like to play the blame game and the soft target is always the wife/girlfriend.

In today’s time when we speak about women empowerment, this blame too should stop. Just because the athlete’s wife/girlfriend is famous and we get some instant gratification when someone likes our memes or trolls doesn’t mean its the right thing to do.

You never know how our mockery & troll must be affecting the otherwise innocent person.

So, please… It is my humble request to the Pakistani public. Stop the unnecessary trolling of the Sania Mirza. She is not in any way responsible for yesterday’s loss.

It’s a game. We win some … we lose some…
