It was a sunny day. You could hear the fresh waves crashing on huge shiny white metal floating in the sea. You could hear those expensive laughters and chat that is synonymous with south Bombay. The atmosphere was energetic due to the overabundance of young blood.

A time on the sea… Secluded from the world .. a world of their own, with their friends and comfort of a cruise that will give them everything that desire .. food, wine or even something naughtier .. anything and everything.

This could very well be the wet dream of any young person who does not have any liability or a  family to take care of.. even easier if you are the son of one of the most beloved actors in the world… Shahrukh Khan.

That’s how I imagine the day might have started for Aryan Khan .. a fun, carefree time with friends to rejuvenate and enjoy the luxury that he has inherited.

Little did he know that he was about to go through the most harrowing time of his life.. a time behind bars .. in jail. As a person from a middle-class family if there is a word that sends shivers down our soul .. Jail would definitely be among the top 2 ( first being police station)

However, we middle-class people often look at the rich and famous and often despise how these laws would never dare touch these people living in ivory towers.

But life is unpredictable.. truly unpredictable…

How on earth would you otherwise comprehend that the son of India’s most famous superstar King Khan was arrested by the narcotics bureau and without even having any proof of possession or consumption, he had to spend 25 days in an Indian prison.

If Shahrukh Khan had met a fortune-teller who would have told that his son would go to jail for a month, he would have laughed and ridiculed him. But that’s what happened.

If a fortune-teller told SRK that his son would go to jail, this is what SRK would have signalled.

With all the connections and power of the world, Shahrukh was left helpless. He didn’t even have the liberty of showing his emotions anywhere as there was too much at stake and whatever he would say might just prolong the agony of his son. As a father seeing his son who was raised so lovingly all these years with all the comfort of the world, spend so many days in jail .. that too in an Indian jail which is notoriously known to be the most unhygienic places with the air filled with the odour of sweat and piss, a place where you are given blankets that are infested with bed bugs, a bed carved out of cement block and hardly any ventilation whatsoever.

Real image of a jail cell

Aryan Khan must have kept rubbing his eyes saying to himself “This cannot be real, this must be a dream.”

Sadly it was the reality. Just when you think you live in the most secure and comfortable place and that life will just carry on, as usual, a huge boulder comes out of nowhere and knocks you out so hard that you fall into the darkest pit.

One thing that this bizarre event has taught me .. the unpredictability of life doesn’t differentiate between rich and poor .. just like death .. whoever you are whatever you are where ever you are… if life decides to take you for a ride, it will take you.

life doesn’t differentiate between rich and poor .. just like death ..

Even if you are King Khan’s son – Aryan Khan.
