Weekend getaway from Pune – Diveagar

Beaches always hold a special place in everyone’s heart.

There is something about the sand, the waves and their sound, the sunrise, and sunset, it all makes one relax and rejuvenate. But people staying in Pune have limited access to beaches and then again there is a question of the quality of the beach. Beaches like Alibaug are too crowded and dirty while Goa is way too far.

So we all want something that can be covered in 4-5 hours so that the entire trip could be done in 2 days.

For this very purpose, I would suggest Diveagar beach. It is one of the closer beaches ( 160km from Pune) and the best part of it is the beach is clean and very less crowded.

You can also do various water sports activities like motorboating, parachute gliding, Group boating, dirt biking etc. The atmosphere is very cool and typical Konkan countryside with coconut trees everywhere.

The stay and food too are very affordable. It cost INR 2700/- for a couple which included 1-night stay, Lunch, dinner, and breakfast. We stayed at Anandyatri resort which was again a treat. It is a good property located just 3 km from the beach.

A special delicacy to try here is Modak. It was the best Modak I have eaten till now. At Anandyatri you get it complimentary during lunch (But just one 🙁 ) But you can pre-order it so that after arriving you can feast on it. It cost INR 20/- per Modak but is huge in size and definitely worth the price tag.

You can also feast on seafood specialty and Solkadhi.

The only hiccup of this entire trip is the roads. 60% of the roads are good but the other 40% is really bad and tiring. But once you reach the beach all of your tiredness just evaporates.

Oct to Jan is the best season to visit as the atmosphere is cool and chilly.

Overall Diveagar is one of the best weekend getaway options for people staying in Pune.

Happy Tripping
