Hey Subtitles,

I never thought I would be doing this, but there is a first time to everything. So here it goes .. my love letter to you.

Subtitles, I am so glad you were invented. I have been mesmerized by you since the day I saw you.

I still remember the day I first saw you. It was the day I saw my first Japanese movie ” Seven Samurai”. I was nervous that day. Will I be able to understand? Will I enjoy? Will I be having the privilege to enjoy the world of Japanese cinema? … So many questions bombarded my mind while the Tv screen started playing the movie.

And that’s when I saw you for the first time. You appeared at the bottom of the Tv screen in Sans serif font.

On the Tv Screen, a dacoit speaks in rough Japanese and just then you appeared

Raid this village too ?

That’s when I realized everything had changed for me. All the doors that were earlier closed for me were now open just because of you.

Our love started blooming….!

After “Seven Samurai” we watched “Roshomon” “Ikiru” “Woman in dunes” and many more. Together we loved exploring Movies, Anime & tv shows of Japan.

Then we went to South Korea and watched “War of arrows” “The Good, The Bad, and the Weird” “13 Assasins” etc and were amazed by the action and drama.

And then one day you surprisingly took me to Spanish Tv show “La casa de Papel ” and boy did I love it. So much so that I had a very strong urge to learn the Spanish language

Recently we have been binging on Malayalam movies and just loving it. “Bangalore Days” “Njan Prakashan” “Varathan” “Maheshinte Pratikaran” “Premam” and so many more. And as always, we started wondering why didn’t we start watching Malayalam movies earlier.

There are still a lot of places to explore like French, Israeli, Chinese, etc and with you by my side I just can’t wait to go there.

Thank you “Subtitles” for coming in my life and for giving me these moments of joy and showing me the world of cinema.

We are in this together till our last breath.

Love you always

Guru
