I am sure there are a lot of people who got to know by now that Indian producer Guneet Monga’s documentary “Period- End of sentence” has won 2019 Oscar in the documentary category.
Guneet has played a pivotal role in connecting the foreign world to Indian content as well as onboarding foreign producer for Indian films. Before ‘Period‘ her movie LUNCH BOX also got rave reviews and was featured in the Cannes film festival.
Guneet truly personifies the real Women power. She was voted in top 12 woman achievers in the Global Entertainment Industry by The Hollywood Reporter.
But the question that always ponders me is … when will an Indian movie get Oscar for the best feature film ( foreign category)?
I remember when I was a teen, there was a huge buzz around Aamir Khan’s Lagaan and a lot of people including me were hopeful that it would win. But although very close, it lost to “No Man’s land ”
So the dream is still a dream and I think brave producers like Guneet have the capability of getting us an Oscar in best feature film category.
But nonetheless here’s wishing Guneet and the entire team of “Period” for the success in Oscar 2019. You have made us Indians very very proud.
