Malayalam cinema has always been the brightest spot in Indian cinema in terms of unique and bold content. For years Hindi, Telugu, Kannada & Tamil industries have been remaking the movies that originated in Malayalam. The new age Malayalam cinema along with great content has generated some fine actors who are a treat to watch.

One of them is Fahadh Faasil. Interestingly, I got introduced to Fahadh through a Tamil movie – Super Deluxe and looking at his effortless and charming performance, I got intrigued and that’s how I got introduced to a string of Malayalam cinemas that were an absolute blast to watch.

There is a certain Charishma in Fahadh. I can’t explain it in words but when you watch him on screen, you get addicted and just want more and more of him. I see a similar charisma in Vijay Deverakonda, Vicky Kaushal and Fahadh too belongs to the same breed.

His big brown eyes do the most of acting followed by his facial expression & body language. Like a chameleon, he can transform himself from a rural man from the village to a polished NRI from Dubai and that’s what makes him so fun to watch. But unlike actors like Aamir Khan who even physically transform themselves to don the role, Fahadh just absorbs the character and becomes one without the need of any physical amalgamation.

So if you are new to Malayam cinema like me…

Below mentioned are 3 movies that will make you adore Fahadh

3. Maheshinte Pratikaram

The story revolves around a small-town photographer Mahesh and his love life that goes through the ups and downs and ultimately through love he understands photography in the true sense. The comic scenes in this movie are so intelligent and amazingly done that you laugh as well applaud the creativity. Even the 2 fight scenes that are pivotal in the character growth is done in the most practical way and there is a comedy stitched in those scenes as well. It’s a beautiful movie that will make you feel that you have lived in a small Kerala village for 2 plus hours. Even the supporting cast has done a spectacular job.

2. Varathan

The movie seems loosely based on Hollywood movie Straw dogs but has been adapted to Kerala village setting. Here you will see Fahadh as Aby, a Dubai returned sophisticated professional who comes to his wife’s native village to stay for a while and work on his startup. But things start taking a weird turn when his wife realizes that her school mate and other villagers are creepy stalkers and will go to extreme end to quench their curiosity.

This movie will crawl under your skin as it shows the creepiness of men and the extent to which they can go. Fahadh’s character being sophisticated man tries approaching the situation in an amicable sense but things just start getting out of control.

The haunting music, cinematography adds to the tension followed by impressive acting by the supporting cast.

But in the 3rd act, Fahadh steals the limelight by a superb action and performance.

1.Njan Prakashan

Fahadh again plays the role of a village guy Prakashan, who is a nurse by profession but hates being one. Here the character is a crook and a smart ass and will go to any extent to get his work done( which is to go out of India ). But Karma bites back and all his plan turns upside down. This movie again is a mix of situational comedy, drama, and emotion. It’s a beautiful and one of the highest-grossing Malayalam movie of recent times. Here again, the highlight is Fahadh and his impeccable and effortless acting. He gives the character the true depth and we as an audience just love his journey.

So I would urge you all to watch these awesome Malayalam movies and thank me later.

All these movies are available on either Netflix or Hotstar.

Happy Binging!
