Food today has become an integral part of world culture.

People now travel to certain places only to taste the local delicacies. Also, there is something entertaining about watching people cook different dishes. That’s the reason Tv Shows like “Master Chef “ have become one of the most successful shows all over the world. But a true food enthusiast is more curious about the real people making food in the real nonglamorous way and stories behind them. Hence for such requirements, documentaries are the best way to explore different cuisines, the culture and the people behind them.

Netflix again is a great source for quality documentaries and hence below are the 3 documentaries that you must watch if you are a food enthusiast or you like food porn.

  1. Ugly Delicious

This is an interesting documentary which revolves around famous food dishes like pizza, tortillas, soul food, etc. Its been produced and anchored by Michelin star Chef & Entrepreneur Dan Chang who owns brands like Momofuku.

What’s interesting about this series is each episode explores a famous dish and how its made around the world. It also challenges myths like the food tastes best only at the place of origin and nowhere else. It also criticizes the elitist mindset in terms of food and the ridiculousness around it.

  1. Street Food

We all know that however good a fine dining experience would be, Street food has its very special place in all our hearts and most of the time we would rather eat our favorite street food instead of a fine dining experience. This Tv show takes you to different cities around Asia like Delhi-India, Bangkok- Thailand, etc and shows the famous street food and people behind them.

Although the show is about food, it takes you through the stories of the people behind the food, their struggle, challenges, and ends at the personal victory they had. The direction, music and overall simple layout work wonderfully and you are in awe of the food that they make.

I personally liked the episode on Ho Chi Minh city of Vietnam where a lady makes dishes out of Snails ( weird I know but equally interesting)

  1. Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat

This unique Docu-series takes the No.1 spot because of its unique content. It is based on writer/Chef Samin Nosrat book of the same name and she is the one who anchors the entire show. It is not focused on any particular cuisine or dish but is rather focused on 4 elements that are Salt, Fat, Acid & Heat. And although the topic might look boring, but trust me it’s a beautiful series that takes you through a lot of countries and shows how each of these elements is used, its significance in different dishes & also the place of origin.

Before watching this show, I thought there is only one type of salt in the world. But I was surprised at the different types of salt. A particular salt that’s made in Japan comes from seaweed and is super expensive. There are a lot of such interesting facts sprinkled around this show.

Its a must Watch.

I MUST WARN YOU THOUGH. WATCHING ANY OF THESE SHOWS WILL GIVE YOU IMMENSE HUNGER PANGS OUT OF NOWHERE. SO IT’S BETTER YOU WATCH IT WHILE KEEPING YOUR SWIGGY FOOD APP ON 🙂
